Guyla Erwilene Ross

Guyla E. Ross, a longtime resident of Largo, Florida, died on September 29, 2023 at the age of ninety-five. She was born on July 6, 1928 in Wichita Kansas. Her parents were Edward and Omah Love. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Nursing and Home Economics. She became a Registered Nurse. While in residency at a hospital she met Thomas Joseph Ross whom she married. She had five children, Sandra Lynn Lankford, William Randal Ross, Martin Thomas Ross, Roger Alan Ross, and Julie Ann Waller. She is survived by four of her children, fifteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.

She moved to Largo Florida in 1963, where she raised her family as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A devout Christian, she was a member of Keene Terrace Baptist Church for over twenty years, and a member of Indian Rocks Baptist Church for the remainder of her life. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and engaged in mission trips including medical missions in Uganda, Africa. Her family was always the most important thing in her life, and she showed unconditional love to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many others that were within her sphere of influence.

A visitation for Guyla will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10:30am to 11:30am, Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A funeral service will follow at 11:30am. Guyla will be laid to rest at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo, FL.
