

Born in Stratford, NJ on May 31, 1926 the son of Howard Eaton and Myrtle Brogden he grew up in Reading, PA; graduated from Mt. Penn High School and Penn State University with a BA degree from the School of Liberal Arts with a major in Accounting & Business Administration. Following graduation and before moving to Florida in 1955, he spent six years with the national accounting firm of Ernst & Ernst. He was a musician; member of Musician's Protective Association of Reading, Local #135, A.F. of M; had a 14 piece dance band; was a private pilot with land & seaplane ratings and a Navy veteran of WWII. Jim retired from the First National Bank of Clearwater (now Regions Bank), after 31 years, as the banks Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors. He was a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association & Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a member of the American Bankers Association and Clearwater Yacht Club where he served as Treasurer, Director, FCYC Director, Rear & Vice Commodores and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was a retired Commodore in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. A long time member of Anona United Methodist Church where he was an usher at the early Sunday service for over 60 years beginning in 1955; also served on the Administrative Board, Finance and Wills & Legacies Committees.
His wife Florence predeceased him in 2008 after 48 years of marriage. He is survived by cousins: Edward A. Brogden, Jr., Warminster, PA; Edward R. Brogden, Emmitsburg, MD; David J. Morgans, Jr., Los Altos, CA; Peter J. Morgans, Glenside, PA; Mark Morgans, Pittsford, NY; and A. Katharine "Kate" Morgans-Hruska, Paso Robles, CA.
