

Idella Johanson, 96 passed away on May 1, 2014 in Brandon, Fl. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Sven Johanson, and her son Aron Johanson. Idella’s funeral service will be held at Open Bible Christian Center at 10am on May 10th.
Idella was born in Butte Montana and grew up in Great Falls, MT. In 1936 Idella married Sven Johanson and they lived in Montana, Sweden, Wyoming, South Dakota and Florida. She was a home-maker first, but always passionate and active in church and community.
Sven & Idella founded Countryside Estates on St. Patrick St. and Mr. Fuel Gas Station (now Seven Eleven), and resided in Rapid City from 1962 until 1984. While in Rapid City Idella was co-founder of Cele’s Women’s Apparel located near The Thrift Center and also co-founded Gospel Garden Bookstore on 7th and St Joe Street.
Idella is survived by two daughters, Karen Thurston (Jim) of Fort Collins CO, and Kristine (Jim) Beaird of Brandon FL and two sons, John (Elizabeth) Johanson of Largo FL and Stephen (Janyce) Johanson of Ft. Collins CO. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was a woman who taught her family how to live life to the fullest, and how to die with grace and dignity. Her life of faith was an inspiration to all.
