

Hagen, Jack L, 91 of Largo, Florida, died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Oak Manor. He was born March 23, 1922, in Batavia, New York, the son of Lynn and Estelle (Ashe) Hagen. Jack served in the US Marines during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a Telephone Installer and Repairman for Bell Telephone in New York for 30 years before retiring and moving to the Largo area in 1977. Jack had a servant’s heart and was a former Boy Scout leader, earning the highest scout master award (The Silver Beaver), youth leader, Sunday School teacher, and member of the American Legion. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years and served as a crossing guard with the Largo Police Department. Jack was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, Notre Dame fan, and loved basketball. He was also very active at his church home, Anona United Methodist Church, for a time serving as head usher, singing in the “senior” choir, and serving on committees. He married the late Nora M. (Fuller) Hagen December 30, 1945, and remained devoted to her until she passed July 4, 2007. Jack is survived by his son David Hagen in Traverse City, Michigan, and daughter Peggy (Michael) Fleetwood of Pelham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his son, Tom, and his daughter, Susie. He is also survived by his grandchildren Joe Hagen, Shane Hagen, Christopher Hagen, Meredith Davis, Matthew Hagen, and Kristi Fleetwood; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way. Jack was preceded in death by four brothers Bill, Bob, Don and Richard Hagen. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Anona United Methodist Church, 13233 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, Florida 33774.
