James Edmund Blount

James "Jim" Blount, 73, of Largo, Florida, passed away on January 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on March 30, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to Cleo and Percy Blount, Jim’s life was one of quiet strength, deep affection, and a boundless zest for living. He was a proud graduate of Bogan High School and went on to build a career as a dedicated systems analyst at American National Can, where his intellect and diligence earned the respect of all who worked with him.

On June 13, 1971, Jim married the love of his life, June Kalchbrenner. Their union was a testament to enduring love and devotion, a partnership that brought joy and comfort to both their lives for over five decades.

Jim’s passions extended far beyond his professional achievements. He found solace and wonder in nature, often taking long, peaceful walks that allowed him to connect with the world around him. He had a soul that sang, embracing the joy of karaoke with gusto and sharing laughter with all who gathered. And in simpler pleasures, he found joy in a good beer, always ready to share a toast with friends and family alike.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, June Blount; his cherished sister, Helen Blount; nephews Michael Blount (Andrea), and Frank Polasek (Paola); niece Karen Curta (Bill); as well as many great nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory with love and fondness. He was predeceased by his dear sister, Mary (Blount) Polasek.

Jim’s spirit, his laughter, and his boundless affection for those he loved will be missed deeply, but his memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A visitation for James will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A reception will occur Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
