Best neighbors ever. Miss you Jan. 🤗😘🥰

I remember Jan as being one of those friends that would give me a helping hand whenever I needed something at work. She was kind, generous and patient. We will always miss her.

Jan was a kind, vibrant and intelligent educator who was always ready to lend me a helping hand. She made certain that I had supplies and books to help my speech/language disordered students learn. Most of all, Jan was a friend who enjoyed sharing updates of her children's lives and never forgot to ask me about mine. 

I know that her family misses her very much. She is up in heaven watching over all of you.

Jan was that one of a kind friend. She always had the best advice. “Ain’t nothing but a thing.” was my personal favorite. All you had to do was mention something you were looking for and she’d call you with ideas to help you find it. She planned many a neighborhood party and always made sure the kids were okay. Most of all she loved everyone and never held a grudge. Love you forever Jan and I’ll see you in heaven sweet friend. 

Jan was the first friend that I made when I began teaching at Bardmoor.  I will always remember how welcome she made me feel and how helpful she was to me.  Through the years we became good friends and I will cherish all of the great memories that we shared.  

Jan was one of my closets friends. She was like a sister to me.  Our friendship was truly special. There are very few people in life you can feel so close and connected to, and Jan was one of those people for me.  She always had my back no matter what. Jan was such a good friend and support for me. I treasure all the memories we have together, from our time as Girl Scout troop leaders and working together at Bardmoor Elementary. I learned so much from Jan and know that I am a better person for having known her. 

Some of my favorite Jan memories include the many Girls Weekend trips we took during our summer breaks. After Jan had gotten her first wig, we spent one of these nights rolling in laughter as we all tried it on. None of us of course, looked as good as Jan. She also shined with her award winning performances of the words FLASH and SAFECRACKER while playing the game Guesstures, 

 Jan is a friend that I will cherish in my heart. We taught together at Bardmoor for 13 years. If I asked her for a school supply, she would give me double. If I asked her for help, she would give me extra. Jan was the most intelligent and caring teacher I had ever encountered.  She was  proud of Brooke and Blake, telling me about their successes.  Jan, I know that you are in Heaven. I miss you.  Nanda

Jan was such a wonderful lady.  Always had a positive attitude.  Jan was everybody's go to person. No matter how busy she was, she was there for me. Forever in my heart.

Jan ‘s strength and kindness helped me through some tough times. She was one of a kind!

My condolences to the family. Jan's faith in the Lord is what I believe has sustained her all these years. She is truly the strongest woman I have ever known. I am sure that Jesus was waiting with open arms for her and she is at peace and surrounded with love. God bless the family.


Jan was one of those rare people who was always ready to help others. It didn't seem to matter what the job was or the tasks that needed to be completed, Jan was always there.
Bardmoor was a better place because of Jan Ottinger.

Jan was the kind of friend you could just be yourself with. I knew I could tell her anything and she would  love me no matter what.
I watched her raise her family, teach and work towards her Master's Degree all while fighting her brave battle.  She will always be my hero and she has left this world and better place.  Her strength set the compass we all aspire to achieve .  I love and miss you my friend.

You have been an inspiration to so many through your battles! Your beautiful family is a testament to your strength, love and beliefs! Our prayers are with you always!

Jan will be remembered always and lovingly by her family of course, but also the students she inspired and her co-workers through out her teaching career.  Memories of teachers with heart will be cherished forever!  Sending love to all!  Nancy Bowman

I remember Aunt Jan taking me with her to help teach her class while I was visiting from NJ, I was really young. Her students really loved her, she was a great teacher. For me I will remember her laugh she seemed to laugh alot, and it was unique to me with her accent I loved it 💙
