

Jane Olsen (“Janie”), 86, of Largo, passed away on August 3, 2014 at Palm Garden of Pinellas Nursing Home in Largo, Florida. Jane was born to Margaret and Mason LeGate in Washington, DC on October 9, 1927. She was married to the late “Olie” Olsen of Largo, Florida for 56 years. Jane graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia with a degree in Occupational Therapy and worked at the VA Center in Bay Pines, Florida. She was a very faithful and active member of Anona United Methodist Church. Jane was a member of the United Methodist Women for many years, some of those years as President at the local level and then President at the District level. She was also on the Board of Global Ministries, a Sunday School teacher, and participated with Meals-On-Wheels. Jane was a volunteer for the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Girls Inc. and assisted her husband with his "Kindergarten Karpentry" Program at a variety of elementary schools in Pinellas County. Jane loved nature and was a member of the National Audubon Society through which she received training on how to rescue birds. In addition to her parents, Jane is predeceased by her husband, Olie and her son, Lars. She is survived by her three children: Linda and husband Bob, of Charlotte, NC; Chris and wife Carlee, of Brooksville, FL; Eric and wife Debbie, of Safety Harbor, FL and by her sister-in-law Lillian and husband Bill of St. Petersburg, FL. Jane was blessed with six grandchildren: Shanna, Christopher, Heidi, Emily, Jennifer and Kimberly and six great-grandchildren: Lauren, Matthew, Joshua, Seven, Charlie and Summer. A memorial service celebrating Jane’s life will be held at Anona UMC in Largo on August 16, 2014 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anona UMC at 13233 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
