Mom,
I saw a rabbit in the timber the other day and thought of the time you called me to thank me for the wild game I sent. I had included some rabbits and you said.."You don't have to send rabbits any more." My response was.."Dad and I used to hunt them all the time when I was growing up...you fried them up with boiled potatoes and lots of white gravy..I always liked that and always thought it was 'comfort food' ". Then came the words I never realized till that moment when you said.."Cork, back then, we HAD to eat rabbit ...now we DON'T!". Whoda thunk it. But You could really cook wild game, MOM.....I harvested my 4th deer of the fall this morning....had some more "quiet time" in the timber and thoughts of YOU!!! Thank You for bringin' me up the best you could...God knows I wasn't the easiest kid to raise...(but I  had to be better than my sister....Ha! Ha!) The eldest can say that! Love You, Mom...may God shead his blessings on you!

Wednesday morning (11/10/10...4:40 AM) after saying my prayers, a voice(Holy Spirit)said "get up and go to the timber, I have a surprise for you"! I headed out...to my quiet place. I slipped through the woods to see a most beautiful sunrise EVER...my surprise? Somewhat..It just got better, I had been there the passed 3 days and saw nothing...the deer started running like crazy that morning...I knew things would be different today...one I would long remember. I harvested a beautiful 10 pt buck..but prior wondered if I had made a good shot..that same voice said "yes, You Did". A great christian friend texted me to see if he could help get him out..another God send...as Jon knew about you. One of the many prayer warriors I silently have. We just shared that quiet time together in Gods Timber. I donated the buck to Farmers and Hunters Feeding The Hungry..he will serve some 200 meals in the soup kitchens of Muscatine..sharing is what you and Dad taught me. I heard from Sheila and Fred about your passing, shortly after my 180 mile ride from Keosauqua to Muscatine and back. Was I crazy to do that... maybe, but there are TOO MANY hungry people in this world.  That night I attended a church dinner and fundraising..at auction..purchased a Queen Anns Lace figure of the Holy Family..it will be a lasting memorial to you Mom! I will and do miss you dearly...but have the satisfaction you and Dad enjoyed Florida so much. Though miles seperated us, I know I will see you in Heaven. I was always there in spirit, enjoyed sharing wild game for your gatherings and hearing about how you loved your neighbors there. You knew I was never good at good-bys...and was scared of death as a child..something you helped me thru, but my life has been changed, now taking the handicapped hunting and fishing, something Dad and Grandpa Korneman would be proud of that I have shared their love of the outdoors. Thanks for teaching me how to cook...You know, I'm darn good at it..and that reflects back on YOU! My love of God can never be taken from me...again..Your Fault...Thank God! So rest easy Mom,You have been a good and loyal servent..God welcomes YOU!

Grief is not the process of letting go, but of remembering with less pain.

Many people have regrets when a loved one dies that they never told each other how much they were loved. I know you will have no such regrets and that you and your mom expressed your love for each other continuously. You can find comfort in your memories and rejoice that your parents are together in Heaven as they were in life. Hugs, Cyn

It's Fri. evening and I hear the cards shuffling and all the laughter in Heaven !  Smell the coffee brewing, who made pie or perhaps tonight it's Janet's cinnamon rolls . . . Janet and Don, Jean and Glen ~ who has the dummy hand?

I am so glad that I met your mother not too long ago and I can remember how beautiful she was.  There you have a picture of your mother and her smile is just like your smile...wow...I am very sorry for the loss of your mother. She is now in peace with the Lord.  We will meet our loved ones someday.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  I love you, Sheila.
