Jean Bernice Vaughan, 86, passed away on Saturday morning Dec 6th, 2014 at Largo Medical Center surrounded by her family after fighting a courageous and lengthy battle with both Cancer and COPD for the past 5 years
Jean was a beautiful, loving, caring, extremely private & empathetic Woman born in New Britain, Connecticut to her parents Ainar Wennberg and Hilda Swanson both Swedish immigrants. She married the love of her life Carvel L Vaughan (MSGT US Marine Corp) her husband of 56 years and they raised their five sons on military bases and cities along the east coast including Norfolk VA, Washington DC, Jacksonville Florida, Pinellas Park FL and Cherry Pont NC prior to settling down in Seminole FL for the past 46 years, and most recently residing at Freedom Square. Above all, she was a devoted Wife and loving Mother that sacrificed and accomplished so much while working and raising 5 boys while also supporting her husband who spent years overseas in a military career that spanned 3-Wars and 32 years. Jean was always the glue, comfort and strength when times were lean and yet so humbly supportive and prideful of her family that served their country, stood guard over and carried fallen Presidents, graduated college and worked with special needs children.
We all are so thankful and grateful knowing that we were blessed to have such a strong, courageous and compassionate Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Sister and Friend in our lives for so long. She will be missed daily, always loved and forever an Angel in our hearts.
Jean was preceded in death by her Husband, Carvel L. Vaughan; Mother, Hilda Swanson; Father-Ainar Wennberg; Brother, Milton Wennberg; and Sister, Norma Kesgarian.
She is survived by her Sister, Barbara Myrick; and her five Sons; Carvel (Chip)Vaughan II (Meg), Rees Vaughan (Christy), Kyle Vaughan (Kelly), Dane Vaughan (Carmen) & Bruce Vaughan (Kim) as well as nine grandchildren and her loving cat Lil-bit, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
