

Born in Detroit, Michigan, to Margaret and Joseph Donovan, Joan lived a life marked by kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. After graduating from Mercy College of Nursing, she began a nursing career that spanned more than 60 years. Caring for others came naturally to Joan, and even after retiring, she continued to volunteer her time and skills to support those in need.
Joan loved time spent with family and cherished the simple joys of life-baking, cooking, working on puzzles, and sharing moments with those closest to her. Her gentle nature, steady warmth, and thoughtful presence touched the lives of everyone around her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her son, James; and her grandson, Tyler.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Susanne DeRemo; granddaughter Krisstina (Colton) Haynes; great-grandchildren Grayson and Ayvaleigh Haynes; nieces Margaret (Mark) Koehn and Kathleen (Jim) Ryan; and nephew Patrick (Melissa) McParlane.
Visitation will take place on January 19, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 PM, at Serenity Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on January 20, 2026, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Her family will remember Joan for her strength, her kindness, and the many lives she touched throughout her long and meaningful life.
