McGeehan, Joseph, 58 of Seminole, FL passed away December 28, 2014. He passed away after a long battle with cancer. His loving wife, Dina; sons Joseph Jr. and Tyler; daughters Katie and Danielle survive Joe. His family also includes his sister Anne; brothers Connie and Raymond and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Joe was a St. Petersburg native and graduated from Dixie Hollins High School. A graduate of Florida State University and owner of McGeehan Construction Company for over 30 years are a few of the great accomplishments of Joe’s life. These accomplishments will continue to be an example of determination and drive for success for his family to follow and remember him by.
For Joe however, his greatest accomplishment was his family, which extended far beyond simple biologics. He was a man who loved his children and everything that they were involved in. Whether a coach on the side line, sitting on a bucket, or a cheerleader in the stands.
Joe’s great love for baseball allowed him to coach many young men and become a second father to them. He taught them values of discipline, self worth, determination and work ethic. Coach Joe and all his love to them have blessed countless families.
One will never look at a classic car the same. Joe’s passion for cars and desire to restore them to their original glory was part of what made the family vacations so exciting! For the McGeehan family, a travel trailer in tow behind a big diesel engine, with the chance of a $500 finder fee as a guarantee for whomever found the perfect car to restore made trips to New York even more entertaining.
Trips down the river will never be the same the lack of elephant noises will be echoed through those big mossy trees. Fireworks on the 4th of July, s’mores, boat rides and fishing trips all things that would get Joe to laugh and smile.
Joe’s love for anything big and parties is how we choose to remember him this day. We celebrate the life of an amazing man. He will be greatly missed by all of his employees, friends and family.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Northside Christian School baseball field at 1 pm Sunday, January 4, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Joe to Northside Christian Athletic Department at 7777 62nd Avenue St. Petersburg, Fl 33709. www.serenityfuneralhomelargo.com (727) 562-2080
