Joyce May

Joyce May, 82, of Largo, Florida, passed away on February 10th, 2025, peacefully in her home, surrounded by family. Born on August 1st, 1942, in Andalusia, Alabama, she was the cherished daughter of Margaret Boutwell Armstrong and Desmond Miles. On October 26th, Joyce married the love of her life, John Paul May, beginning a beautiful and lasting partnership.

Joyce devoted much of her life to her career in pharmaceutical production with R P Schear in Clearwater, Florida, where she was known for her diligence and care. A proud member of the American Legion in Dunedin, Joyce was passionate about serving her community and honoring her country. Her heart was full of love for her family, her beloved dogs, and the joy of travel, always seeking new adventures and experiences. A lover of the simple pleasures in life, Joyce could often be found enjoying a good book, a round of golf, or indulging in her favorite treat – ice cream.

Her legacy is one of warmth, kindness, and devotion, touching the lives of those around her in profound and lasting ways. Joyce is reunited with husband John Paul May and beloved granddaughter Diane Paige Hood, she is survived by her children, Donald Allen Hood (Gina), Carol Ann Morris, and Christine May Burroughs; her dear brother, Donald Armstrong (Alice); her grandchildren, Brian Allen Hall (Janetta), Reagan Sydney Roy (David), Johnathan Peter Burroughs (Sadie), Christine and Josephine King; as well as her great-grandchildren, Dezinnay Hall, Zachary Hall, Miami Hall, Noah Briggs, Juniper Roy, and Harper and Kimber Burroughs.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Joyce will be held on February 22nd, 2025, at 2:00 PM at 12899 138th Lane, Largo, FL 33774.

Though Joyce has departed from this world, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, whose lives were touched by her gentle soul and boundless love. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
