Marie Jeanne was born on October 8, 1929, in the Dominican Republic daughter to Adele Rapahel and Zalant Joseph. She spent the first eight years of her life in the Dominican Republic and was force to flee to Haiti with her brother during the Parsley (Perejil) Massacre in 1937.
She met her husband and life partner Paul Emile Almonor, a machinist at Plantation Dauphin. They would eventually have seven children: Helene, Nicolas, Irza, Julien, Karl Henri, Hervé and Jeanne-Marie.
She and Paul emigrated to the United States, and through their hard work and perseverance were able to provide their children with more opportunities then were available to them.
She worked until her retirement at Morris Park Nursing Home in the Bronx. Upon retirement, she and Paul moved to Safety Harbor Florida. During her retirement, she and Paul were able to enjoy visiting their children and grandchildren. They also travelled to Europe and the Indian subcontinent.
Her home was always open to those who needed her help. She believed one should do good without expecting anything in return. She valued education and had a strong work ethic. She was a devout Catholic and her days were filled with prayer.
