Schlaug, Marilyn “Lyn” Ann, 90, of Belleair, Florida went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2025. A native of Brighton, Michigan, she was the daughter of Albert Janes and Ruth Bohrer, and the sister of Robert Janes, Warren Janes, and Judy Brogan. Preceded in death by the passing of her beloved husband of 53 years, Owen Schlaug, Junior, Lyn is survived by daughters Karen Zastrow (Robert Zastrow) and Julie Lyons (Scott Lyons), as well as son Owen Schlaug, III (Susan Schlaug). She was the proud grandmother of Lindsay Smith (Dustin Smith), Nicholas Zastrow (Annah Zastrow), Christine Chen (Rui Chen), and Michael Owen Schlaug, and great-grandmother of Bennett Smith, Carson Smith, Evelyn Zastrow, and Henry Zastrow.
Lyn was a member of Neighborly Senior Services, Belleair Civic Association, Belleair Garden Club, and past secretary of the Tampa Bay chapter of the University of Louisville Alumni Association.
Lyn led a fascinating life and would often tell stories of her youth – growing up on a farm in Michigan, attending Brighton High School, and meeting Owen on a blind date at the University of Michigan. She loved deeply and considered family her greatest blessing. Lyn and Owen moved to Belleair in 1993 where she pursued her passion for gardening, traveling, and supporting the University of Louisville Cardinals baseball team.
