

Max Gene Rubeck, 85, Largo, FL., formerly of Monticello, IN, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, in Largo, FL. He was born in Staunton, IN, on July 20, 1926, to Beecher and Margaret Muncie Rubeck. He married Shirley Ann Lynch May 6, 1951, in Terre Haute, IN; she passed away March 20, 2011. Mr. Rubeck was a successful banker, starting his career in 1944 in Terre Haute, IN. After serving two years in the Army during World War II in the Philippines, he resumed his banking career. In 1959, he took his career to Francesville, IN. as an Assistant Cashier, then to the State and Savings Bank, Monticello, IN in 1962. It was from this bank that he retired after serving as Loan Officer, Trust Officer, President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board. Mr. and Mrs. Rubeck moved to Largo in 1988, serving as volunteers at Sabal Palms Health Care Center for more than 10 years. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Clearwater, FL. He was also a member or past member of the Masonic Lodge, Monticello; Kiwanis International; Indiana Bankers Association; and American Bankers Association. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (2011). Survivors include daughters, Vicki (husband: Mike) Sherwood, Lafayette, IN, and Kathy (husband: Jerry) Burleson, Morrow, OH, and son Greg Rubeck, Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.
