

Patricia Ellen Stallings passed away peacefully with the love of family at her side on August 29, 2011 in Clearwater, Florida. Patricia was born to retired Air Force Col. and Florida House Representative William Gibson and his wife Madeline Gibson on June 9, 1936 in Huntington, West Virginia. Patricia, known best by family and friends as Patty, loved the beach and Florida, her sons and grandchildren, and Church. She was seen as a wise counselor to all. Those fortunate enough to have known her turned to her in times of trouble for solutions to life’s difficult situations. Patty proudly served her country for thirty years as an Army wife. Going above and beyond her call of duty Patty also served on the Army Materiel Command’s Community Service Senior Volunteer Council for which she was awarded the Outstanding Civilian Service Award medal in 1985. Patty is survived by her husband, Major General USA (Ret.) David Stallings; two sons, Michael and John; Daughter-in-law, Patty; three grandsons, Seth, Michael and Ryan; and two granddaughters, Brittany and Madeline. Visitation will be held at the Moss Feaster Funeral Home located at 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The service celebrating Patty’s life will be held Friday, Sept. 2 at 10:00 AM at Anona Chapel of Prayer located at 13233 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL followed by her burial at 2:00 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery.
