

She was born an Army brat in Neubrucke, Germany on October 30, 1959. She considered Elizabethtown, KY her hometown and was a 1977 graduate of East Hardin High School in Glendale, Ky. She was a graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in accounting.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 26 years, Walter James Powell on February 26, 2008; her parents Clyde Newton and Betty Lou (Oakes) Porter in 2015, a brother Timothy Luke Porter in 2015.
She is survived by her son, Derek Michael Powell of St. Petersburg, FL, her sister Penny Clydell Porter of Elizabethtown, KY, her brother, Clyde Newton Porter, Jr of Louisville, KY, her step-children Rachelle Callaway, Doug Powell, Heather Soelch, her grandchildren Jerrica Ryan, Danielle Ryan, Cameron Soelch, Bryson Powell, and Carson Powell and 4 great grandchildren and a nephew, Jeremy Michael Porter, her two Affenpinschers, Howie and Harley, and her Yorkshire Terrier, Duke.
She will be sorely missed by the members of the Clearwater Yacht Club and the Greater Belleair Young Women’s Society of which she was a long time member. At the yacht club, she was a member of the Bow Chasers and Gulls. She represented the club for many years as the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs Director. She was a past president of the GBYWS.
She was an avid fan and season ticket holder of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Peggy was a loving and giving person with a wonderful sense of humor and great compassion. She had a kind word and a smile for everyone she met. In times of need or loss, Peggy was among the first to lend a hand in whatever way she could.
The Celebration of Life will be December 29, 2018 at the Clearwater Yacht Club from 11 – 1. She will be cremated, and her ashes scattered with her husband’s.
