Gene graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, Missouri and married the love of his life Donna Diane Bullin on September 14, 1951.
In 1952 Gene joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Calvert as an Engineer and was part of Operation Passage to Freedom 1954 -1955 . Once he returned to the United States, Gene had a career in construction for Bohnert Construction in Kansas City, Missouri and Phillips Construction in Tampa Florida where he worked on AMC movie theaters.
In Gene's free time he enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing bingo, seashell hunting with Donna, Sunday walks on the beach with his daughter, Susan, drinking Miller-Lite with his friends at the Heisler-Johnson American Legion Post #119 of Largo and the Indian Rocks Beach VFW #10094, and he never forgot to enjoy a Parkdale Strawberry Shortcake on his birthday!
Gene is survived by his devoted daughter, Susan D. Adams (Ron Adams) and a close family friend, James Steinlage, his Brother Jack & his wife Lona, Texas and many Nieces & Nephews in Texas, FL & South Carolina.
A visitation for Gene will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A graveside service and burial will follow at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park.
