She was born on September 17, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Elsie Mae Hillyer & Robert F. Hillyer.
Shirley earned her diploma from Scotch Plains High School.
On March 16, 1952 Shirley was married to Arthur M Coles, Jr (deceased 7/25/83).
Shirley was a homemaker, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister; taking care of those family members and friends in need throughout the years.
She was a member of the National Wildlife Federation, National Parks and Recreation, Moose, and had a passion for animals, gardening, football (Florida Gators and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and enjoyed her favorite holiday, Christmas.
She is survived by her children, Roxanne Coles-Matis (John) and Rhonda Coles Halsey (Alan); grandchildren, Matthew Matis (Annie), Michael Matis (Alison), Erica Halsey, April Halsey Polito (Thomas), and Steven Halsey; great grandchildren, Abigail Matis, Lucas Matis, Liam Matis, and Charlotte Matis; Niece, Louise Cole (Gregg); nephews, Dennis Ryan and Richard Ryan (Linda); grandniece, Claudia Freire (Tania); grandnephews, Andrew Ryan, Craig Ryan (Teresa), and Scott Ryan (Amanda); and great grandnephews/nieces, Zander, Melody, Amberly and Liam.
Funeral Services will be held at 12pm, March 11, 2023 at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
