

William Machnovitz, 79, of Largo, Florida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 4, 2023. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Woodward High School, Cincinnati Technical College, and the American Institute of Metals.
He served in the United States Air Force. He worked in Las Vegas as a blackjack dealer for a short time before starting a career that spanned well over 50 years in the welding industry. During that career he worked as a welder, foreman, sales representative, instructor, and manager. His calm demeanor, knowledge, and professional manner endeared him to many coworkers, customers, and students over the years. He was a member of AWS since 1968 and spent 21 years on the executive board.
Bill moved with his wife and family to Florida in 1987. He loved the beach and collecting shells. He was an avid baker and enjoyed making cookies for those he loved. After retirement he found joy in volunteering, building model ships, traveling, and being with his family. He battled heart disease for 40 years but lived life to the fullest and never, as if he was sick. He was the strongest yet gentlest of men.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Mayme Machnovitz. He also lost his wife of 37 years, Kathy and his sister and brother-in-law Hilda and Jack Biehn. Bill is survived by his son, Todd of Largo, his daughter and son-in-law, Marci and Tom Edmiston and his granddaughters, Ella and Abbe of Seminole and his longtime partner, Evelyn Grosch of Largo. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Barry Cooperstein along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A committal service will be held, Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11am, Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association.
