Agnes Belen Sese Conrad passed into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at St.Rose Dominican Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in San Juan (Metro Manila) in the Philippines on January 21, 1940, to Alfredo Cruz Sese and Luz Francisca Belen Sese. She was known as Annette to those who knew her.
Agnes married Erwin Conrad on January 21, 1979.
Annette is survived by her children: Katherine Ann (Kievan) Walters of Lincolnshire, Alfred Sese Conrad of Springfield, Carolyn Rebekah (Joseph) Behrens of Phoenix, Maria Ying (Timothy) Dripps-Paulson of Sugar Grove, and Linda Luz Conrad of Springfield. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Karoline (Joseph), Justina, Andrew, Janessa, Sara (Michael), Jaylene, Alfred Jr, Jaclyn, Michael, Christopher, Philip, Clara, Zoe, Naomi, and one great-grandchild, Adele. She is deeply loved by her siblings: Felipe, Alfredo, Celia, Jaime, Victor, René, and Manuel, as well as her sisters-in-law: Erika, Erma, Gerda, and Linda.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Conrad, son, Paul, her siblings, Ernesto, Marcial, Marie, and her parents.
Annette attended the University of the Philippines and graduated with a degree in architecture. Annette served as an architect for the city of Chicago. In collaboration with other architects, she designed many buildings and bridges in downtown Chicago. She worked for the Illinois State Board of Education until she retired.
Annette was known for her many talents. She was a contributing member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had a strong faith and loved her Lord devotedly. She was an accomplished artist and musician. She made dresses, decorated elaborate cakes of all designs, and often was found playing her favorite music on guitar, piano, ukulele, and accordion. She was always smiling.
She cherished her family, always sharing the stories of growing up in the Philippines with her loving parents and siblings. She delighted in her grandchildren, teaching them to play duets with her at the piano. While she faced many challenges, her strength, independence, courage, and faith never wavered. Annette's beautiful smile and easy laughter, her loving heart and positive outlook, and her generosity towards all who she came in contact with, will be dearly missed.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Parish on Friday, May 3rd at 12:30 pm with interment following.
Annette will be laid to rest next to her husband Erwin Conrad in Camp Butler Cemetery.
