Andrew “Andy” Burdick, 49, a 25-year resident of the Las Vegas area made his journey to Heaven on May 13, 2012 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on January 12, 1963 in Garden Grove, California to Orval Edward and Lorraine Ruth Burdick. Born the fifth of six children, Andy grew up in a large, loving family. He attended the Child Development Center at the Oxnard Air Base from 1972 to 1977 and the Dean Triggs School in Thousand Oaks, California until the age of 22. He then entered the Simi Valley Adult Development Center until moving to Las Vegas in 1987. Since 1996, Andy has participated and worked in community-based day programs, most recently Opportunity Village, where he performed a variety of jobs. Andy loved listening to and making music, especially on his drum. He also enjoyed twirling scarves, hanging out with his friends and family in his Danville Services home, watching TV, and going to the park and other community outings. Andy was a gentle soul who was much loved and will be missed by many. He is survived by sisters Laurel Wallace and husband Timothy, and Nancy Bowker and her husband James. He is also survived by his brothers John Burdick, Daniel Burdick and his wife Christine, as well as seven nieces and one nephew. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Opportunity Village in Las Vegas, Nevada, http://www.opportunityvillage.org.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Eastern Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
