

Aquilino S. (Ruben) Laureta left this life to be with the Lord from the Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, AK on October 22, 2016 due to complications following gall bladder bypass surgery and with 15 family members in attendance. He was 81 and a Las Vegas resident for over 20 years.
Mr. Laureta was born on June 18, 1935 in the Philippines to his parents, Ambrosio and Dolores (Sarmiento) Laureta. He graduated from Rosario High School, La Union Province, Philippines in 1952. He married Rosita Nones in 1956. The Lauretas lived in nearby Canaoay where Ruben worked as a photographer while Rosita worked as a seamstress. Eventually they immigrated to the United States in the mid 80’s and early 90’s.
Once in America, Rosita worked many years in the fishing industry in Kodiak, Alaska while Ruben worked for a long time in Las Vegas, Nevada in the culinary industry. Ruben and Rosita were loving spouses and dedicated parents, earning the admiration and respect of anyone who had the pleasure of knowing them. Their hard work and sacrifice have enabled eight of their ten children to immigrate over the years to the United States from the Philippines.
Mr. Laureta is survived by his wife of 60 years Rosita, daughters Helen Laureta, Winda Marchalonis, and Miriam Anderson; sons Joseph, Rolando, Gaspar, Abraham, Ramil, Aquilino Jr., Ronald, and 30 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Mr. Laureta was buried after a funeral service on Monday October 31st, 2016 at 1pm. A viewing took place on Sunday October 30th, 2016 from 2 to 6 pm at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
