God saw she was getting tired a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around her and whispered "Come with Me". With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, and saw her fade away, although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Beverly K. Doherty March 9, 1941 to July 26,2014 Beverly Doherty passed away on July 26, 2014 after a bravely fought battle against cancer. She will be long remembered as a loving and caring wife to her surviving husband of almost 55 years, Jerome (Jerry) Doherty. She was born in York, Nebraska and raised in a caring foster home until she was taken to live in California by her mother and step-father. She was a gifted singer, and at the age of 13, was hired to sing a duet with Tony Martin on the Bob Hope Christmas Special. She attended La Puente High School, where she met her husband Jerry, who she married in 1960. When her husband became an FBI Special Agent, they moved their family to San Antonio, Texas and then to Metairie, Louisiana, where she taught children who were considered behavior and learning challenged at St. Mary Magdalen Elementary School. Because of her great care and compassion, these children gained self-esteem and the ability to succeed, when others had given up on them. Another transfer brought her family to Las Vegas, Nevada where they have lived since 1977. She worked at both Safeway and Vons Supermarkets and as a top producing Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker. Upon retiring from real estates, she tutored students at Lamping Elementary School, in Henderson, Nevada. Her natural warmth and kindness made her very special to the students she taught. She was always a fun, loving and dedicated mother to her 3 children and brought such joy and laughter to her 7 grandchildren. She often said, "All will be right in my world if my children, grandchildren and husband are happy and healthy." She is survived by her husband Jerry, her son Michael Doherty (Lisa), her daughter, Lori English (Robert), her son Dan Doherty (Debbie) and by her grandchildren, Ryen Doty, Jerry Doty (Jennie), Chris Doherty, Kayla Doherty, Henley Doherty, Allie Doherty and Robby English and by her great grandson, Thomas Jerome Doty. She will be missed greatly, remembered always and loved forever.
