Charles Leslie Foster passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 31, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born on September 30, 1931 in Goessel, Kansas; the oldest of five children to Carl L. Foster and Sarah Flaming. His family relocated to Southern California where he attended San Fernando High School, graduating in 1950.
Charles proudly served the country he loved in the U.S. Air Force; following in the footsteps of his father, a World War I veteran, and several uncles who served during World War II. He was part of the 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing during the Korean War. After his time in the service, he spent over 50 years as a Civil Designer, working for companies contracted with the United States Department of Energy at the Nevada Test Site; including Holmes & Narver, Ratheon Technologies, Bechtel, and National Security Technologies.
Where Charles truly excelled was as a husband, father, friend, and human being. He brought a smile to the face of everyone in his orbit. Personable and selfless in nature, he always went out of his way to make sure everyone else was happy and comfortable; no matter what he was going through. Most everyone liked him, especially those with the most troubled homelives who always seemed to gravitate to him. Charles was an exceptional man, the likes of which is hard to find.
He is survived by his daughter Rina (Foster) Schrader, daughter-in-law Brenda Schrader, his son Andy Foster, a sister Linda Holtzman, and his dog Murphy.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmeastern.com for the Foster family.
