Charles was a graduate of Rice University and served as a naval officer in World War II. He owned and operated businesses in Houston, Texas; Denver, Colorado; Phoenix, Arizona; and Los Angeles, California.
Charles was a devoted family man and loved sports. He was an avid golfer and tennis player. He and Eleanor enjoyed RVing and cruising.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Eleanor Hurt; children, Glenn Kapner of Phoenix, Arizona, and Nancy Kapner of Santa Fe, New Mexico; four step-children, Klint Kirkconnell of San Diego, California, Clare Barr of St. Helena, California, and Kelly and Kamron Kirkconnell of Houston, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He will be missed by all who loved him.
