David "Daddio" Carraway
August 18, 1964 – February 26, 2025
David Carraway—known lovingly as Daddio, Dave, Popsi, Rebel, Faja, and Super Dave—passed away on February 26, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 60 years old.
Born in Germany on August 18, 1964, David spent his childhood in Wilmington, North Carolina, before moving to Las Vegas in high school. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1982, serving his country for four years. However, it was behind the bar where he spent the majority of his life, making friends out of strangers with his quick wit, generous spirit, and infectious personality.
David had a deep love for music, writing, drawing, movies, and his family. He never took life too seriously, always embracing humor and mischief. A die-hard Raiders fan, he stayed loyal through every season, just as he did with the people he loved. His favorite movies—**Planes Trains and Automobiles, Josie and the Pussycats, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Austin Powers, and anything with John Candy—**reflected his appreciation for good laughs and great storytelling. Christmas was his favorite holiday, and he had a habit of giving way too many gifts, a true testament to his generous heart.
More than anything, David was a devoted father to David (DJ) and Danielle (Danni), and an adoring grandfather to Weston and Vincent. He raised them with love, humor, and an unwavering commitment to their happiness. He also took in Davin and raised him as his own, showing once again that family, to him, was not just about blood but about love and action.
David was kind, honest, and endlessly giving. He was creative, patient, sarcastic, and larger than life. His loyalty and support were unmatched, and his presence could brighten even the darkest room. To know him was to love him, and to be loved by him was a true gift. His actions always spoke louder than words, and his impact on those around him will never fade.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kay and Thomas Carraway, and his sister, Nora. He is survived by his brother, Tom, his children, DJ and Danni, his grandchildren, Weston and Vincent, and countless friends who became family.
David Carraway lived with an open heart and a full spirit. His legacy will live on in the stories told, the laughs shared, and the love he gave so freely.
Thank you for celebrating his life with us. In true Dave fashion, guests are encouraged to bring their best jokes, their loudest laughs, and maybe even a Raiders jersey or two.
Rest easy, Popsi. We love you.
