It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Viet Quoc Nguyen, who left us on February 26, 2026, following a courageous fight against cancer. A beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, David lived a life full of laughter, adventure, and warmth that touched everyone around him. David was 47 years old.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 2, 1979, but raised in Arlington, Texas. David eventually made Las Vegas, his home. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology while living in San Francisco, a background that undoubtedly helped him navigate the world with empathy and understanding. He applied his natural people skills to a successful career in hospitality and luxury retail. David spent memorable years working at The Golden Nugget, Mandalay Bay, and Skylofts at MGM Grand before joining the team at Bvlgari, where his charm and professionalism left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike.
To know David was to love him. He was the definition of charismatic, always kind and incredibly giving to those around him. However, his kindness was often paired with a quick wit and a delightful dash of sassy spice that kept everyone on their toes. When David walked into a room, the atmosphere instantly changed. His smile was infectious and shined so bright that it seemed as though the lights would flicker just to compete with his radiance.
David had a zest for life that found joy in exploring the world. He loved traveling to Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam, and was always on the hunt for the next best foodie spot to share with his loved ones. He found deep joy in music of all genres and languages with a unique appreciation for style and history, spending time collecting vintage electronics, shoes, bags, records, lazer discs and luggage.
David will be deeply missed by his husband, Surarit “Ton/Tee” Choodam; his loving mother, Minh-Hue Hiep Nguyen; His brother Michael (Lyndsey) Nguyen.
He is now reunited with his father, Hoa Van Nguyen, who preceded him in death. His spirit will live on in every shared meal, every heartfelt laugh, and every song that brings people together. His light remains with all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 2-6pm at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, Nevada.
