

Eric Barnes, 56, a twenty-year residence of Las Vegas passed away on July 15, 2014 at his home. Eric was born April 19, 1958 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Houston Barnes Jr. and Barbara Jean Richmond. Eric has two sisters Lisa Barnes-Durk and Gina Barnes-Davis. Eric attended Arlington High School & Arsenal Technical High School where he received a vocational degree in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration. After High School he moved to Los Angeles and continued his studies at El Camino College until he graduated. Eric met and fell in love with Ruth “Penny” Mayfield and they had two children Ricky Dwan and Shannon Sharell Barnes. Eric loved working with his hands and as a result had careers in photography, electrical engineering and later as a maintenance engineer. Over the years Eric developed passions for motorcycle riding, swimming, fishing, cars, music, cooking, and he adored animals especially his most recent pet ferrets Cash and Candy or affectionately known as “his babies”. Eric is survived by his children Ricky Dwan Barnes and Shannon Sharell Barnes of Los Angeles, California; two grandchildren Taylor and Amaya of Los Angeles, California; two sisters Lisa Barnes-Durk of San Diego, California and Gina Barnes-Davis of Los Angeles, California; two uncles Ronald Richmond of Indianapolis, Indiana and Paul Richmond of New York; two nieces Shavaar and Chalese; nephew, Brandon; two great nieces and three great nephews. He also leaves behind five special friends Regina Ridout and Frank Lanier of Las Vegas; Karl Davis and Kevin Barker of Los Angeles, California; Billy Joe Edmond of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of cousins and extended family members and friends.
