Esther Marie Vagnozzi Dotts, 83, of Las Vegas, formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on October 31, 1941, in Follansbee, WV, Esther was the beloved daughter of Frank and Catherine (Katy) Vagnozzi. She grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and the warmth of a home where the door was always open and there was always food on the table. Esther graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in 1959, where she was an honor student, active in every activity, and known for her vibrant personality, mischievous smile, and friendly conversations. She left a lasting mark on her teachers, classmates, and the many friends she cherished throughout her life. Her classmates remember her fondly: “Everyone on the street knew and loved her vibrant personality and mischievous smile. She was popular, kind, and always left you feeling better after a conversation. She and her best friend, Vickie, shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and loyalty—a friendship that embodied the spirit of St. Anthony’s.” After beginning her banking career at Weirton Savings and Loan, Esther’s ambition and leadership took her to California, and eventually to Las Vegas, where she rose to become Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank’s Gaming Division. She was admired as a mentor and trailblazer, empowering many young women in banking and showing them what success could look like. Outside of her professional achievements, Esther was deeply committed to giving back. She devoted years of service to Opportunity Village, an organization close to her heart. She also loved traveling—especially cruises—with dear friends Pam, Andrea, and Fr. Mike. More than the destinations, it was the time spent with those she loved that mattered most. Above all, Esther’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her brother Joseph (Dreama) Vagnozzi of Follansbee, WV; her sister Luanne (Rick) Carroll of Winterville, OH; and her grandson, Brent Dotts of Texas, who was the light of her life. She will also be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored her. She is reunited in heaven with her parents, Frank and Katy; her husband, Robert; her beloved young son, John; and her brother, Anthony, who passed earlier this year. Esther’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who stood faithfully by her side—especially her dear friend Pam Benson, who never failed to visit with milkshakes, snacks, and unconditional love; Eva Grajewski; her godson, Adam Markman, who always remembered birthdays and Mother’s Day; and the compassionate caregivers at Hospice Services of Nevada, especially Christina Leeper and her nurse Rosie. Your care and devotion brought Esther comfort and dignity throughout her journey.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Esther’s life at Palm Eastern Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 p.m., and again on Thursday from 10:15 am until the time of service at Christ the King Church at11:00 am In honor of Esther’s generous spirit, donations may be made to Opportunity Village through their website. Esther will be remembered for her smile, her laughter, and the way she made every person feel like a friend. While her passing leaves us deeply saddened, those who knew her find comfort in remembering her vibrant personality and the joy she brought to so many lives. The last thing she would want is for us to dwell in sorrow. Instead, we honor her by carrying forward her love, her warmth, and her unshakable spirit. God bless Esther—may she rest in peace.
