

Frankie J (Winans) Nelson passed peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday May 20, 2017, two days before her 80th birthday, after a long-term illness. She was born May 22, 1937 in Nampa, ID, and moved to the Las Vegas area in the late 1950’s to work at the Nevada Test Site. She was predeceased by her parents, Vernon Bernell Winans, and Frances Lucille Grouws, and her sister Mary Lou Waltman. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Erven J. Nelson, M.D., daughters (Rhodes), Kimberly Sekol (John), Dana Veneklasen (Gary), Kathryn Edwards (Greg), Shelly Martin (William), stepchildren, Erven T. Nelson (Lisa), Scott Nelson (Patty), Sydney Tyndall (Bob), and Marianne Noble (Larry), twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and her sister Jeanne Lewis. Frankie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She served those around her in many capacities, as a member of the Assistance League of Las Vegas, and as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Frankie’s family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the loving and devoted staff of Las Ventanas, and Pro Care Hospice. A memorial service honoring her life will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 2017 at 11:00 in the morning at the LDS church located at 9825 W. Desert Inn Road, Las Vegas, NV 89117.
