It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frederick V. Mancini III, who left us on February 16, 2025, after a courageous but brief battle with esophageal cancer. Fred was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1942 and spent his early years working tirelessly in the construction trade to support his family.
In 1979, Fred made the bold decision to move west to Las Vegas, seeking a new chapter for his family. Over the years, Fred became a respected and proud 50-year member of the Carpenters and Joiners Local 1780. He contributed his skills to numerous projects throughout Las Vegas, including approximately a decade spent at the Nevada Test Site. His career came to a fulfilling close at the Luxor Hotel, where he worked in the carpenter shop before happily retiring at age 62. When asked what he planned to do in retirement, Fred’s simple and untroubled reply was always, “Whatever I want!”
Fred lived a life of integrity and simplicity, never living beyond his means but always providing a stable and secure life for his loved ones. Though he was a stoic man, Fred’s love for his family was evident in everything he did. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara, in 1965, and after her passing in 2021, Fred missed her deeply and loved her always.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Louise; his wife, Barbara; and his oldest grandchild, Joshua. He is survived by his two children, Fred (Blythe) and Dina (Porfirio); six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. Fred will be remembered for his strong work ethic, easy-going nature, and his unwavering dedication as a provider for his family.
Fred’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
