Grandpa replied:  
Be nice to your family. Never have I’ll thoughts to anyone. LOVE EACH OTHER. If someone needs help, help them. If you can’t do it, ask another brother to help. 

We will miss you dad during our travels…but we know you’ll be with us as our Guardian Angel. 💟😇✝️

We’re gonna miss you on our road trips. 

I’m Monching, Leonor’s nephew.  I have uncles on my mother’s side and my father’s side but Uncle Nonoy is my favorite, even though we are not blood related, he’s also my ninong.  I miss him a lot.  No one is going to visit me all the time now at my house.  I can’t practice my barber shop on him anymore.  I like him because he always has comments on everything, whether it’s sports or politics.  Uncle Nonoy is always there to give me advice.  When I came to America, he was like a father to me.  Uncle, I will miss you and my Papa’s there with you now.  I hope you’ll be talking all day with him.  Every time he visits, he never hesitates to eat everything I cook, so no one is eating the extra food at home now.  Uncle, I will not say goodbye because you’re always there with me, in my heart.  

I’m Raymon, I’ve only known Grandpa for a year, but I honestly would never forget the first time I actually remember meeting him was last year.  I entered the house, seeing both Grandpa and Grandma there, their smile was so wide, they just looked so happy, and they gave me the biggest hug.  I felt so welcomed and literally felt like another home.  Talking to Grandpa, he just seemed so happy, he wanted to learn everything about me, I told him different stories, showed him pictures and he wanted to know more and more.  One thing that I’m always gonna carry with me, how proud he was of his family, how of all of his achievements were, and how he always embraced family.  Everyone has been talking about it, he’s a family man.  I wish I got to spend more time with him.  Love you, Grandpa.

Three years ago from the day my grandpa passed, I was with him in another hospital room. I was 18. On that day in 2019, never did I think I'd lose him three years to the day. Let alone that soon.

He was able to live an amazing life. He was married to my lovely grandmother for fifty-five years, he had five children; and in turn he had a plethora of grown, yet eccentric, grandchildren. All of whom loved him deeply and dearly. But it's not just his family that loves him; there are also his friends, his children's friends, and even his children's children's friends. Our Geoffrey was loved and cherished by so many, as you can tell by the variety of faces here today. That proves that family isn't just blood, but a bond.

He touched hearts, and we all felt it. His positive energy fills rooms and his corny phrases repeat in our minds. He was always there; whether it's my lowest points, or if it was to see his youngest grandchild turn twenty-one. I'm glad to have been able to keep two of his voicemails because in them he is so happy and cheerful, full of so much life despite just being a handful of words. That's simply who he was.

In his final moments, he wasn't worried about himself. I don't believe a thought ever came to his mind about how he's doing. His thoughts were on his family, and how we were going to be afterwards. He told us not to be sad, not to cry, to be happy. We're trying grandpa. And I know you're here somewhere floating around. I just hope you're happy too.

Hello, I’m Ashley, I am Grandpa’s granddaughter in law.  While I’ve only been part of the family for a few years now, there are a few qualities that radiate from him. When you look at Grandpa, his love just radiates from his face and he just had so much love to give.  His heart is so full and his just proud of everyone that he meets.  He is so family oriented.  I didn’t understand what a family man was until I got to know Grandpa.  He loves his family more than anything else.  I love his sense of humor.  One particular story, Alec and I just arrived, and we walked in, he said, “oh I have to show you my new pet.”  We went to the backyard at the side of the house and there was a turtle.  It was a turtle that he rescued.  We asked him, Grandpa, what’s the turtles name, he said, “Ninja, Ninja Turtle.”  He is just a truly an incredible guy and I’m grateful to be part of his family. 

I am Alec, I am the middle grandchild to Grandpa.  Grandpa was something else.  Grandpa was a machine; he was powerful, strong, he never wanted to stop quitting.  He was always so proud of us for everything that we did, whether it was school, sports, a career change, anything.  Grandpa was a big family man as the others have mentioned; it did not matter what it was, the smallest thing to celebrate, he wanted the whole family there no matter what.  One of my biggest memories, Grandpa, no matter what age we are, Grandpa always kissed us on the cheek or on the forehead, one or the two, it was always on the cheek or the forehead.  Some of my favorite memories of Grandpa was going camping, and he would tell the ghost stories.  All of the cousins would be excited about the stories.  I was too much of a little chicken to listen because I was so scared.  Grandpa always said he wants to leave his legacy.  One of the stories that sticks out the most was his COCC story and him making the design for the cap device (the hat).  He was always so proud of who he was, he was always so proud of everybody in our family and all he wanted to do was to see us happy and succeed.  Grandpa, your legacy will go on.  I love you.  See you later.

My name is Christian. Geoffrey is my grandpa, and he is one of the most important people in my life. Grandpa has always been a big inspiration to me. I always admired his values of family, kindness, and fairness. One of the things I enjoyed most when I was with him was that he absolutely loved the moments when the whole family was together, whether it be the holidays, a birthday, or just a weekend visit or vacation somewhere. I think that he saw all of us enjoying our time together during gatherings, and just the sight of seeing everyone have fun and with each other made him smile. He truly loved every single one of us with all of his heart. Every time I saw him he would always ask how I was doing, how work was going, and how just life in general was going. He just wanted to make sure I was happy. Before he passed, he pulled me aside and said “Christian, promise me something. Promise me you’re get a girlfriend” and I said I’m working on it, and yes I promise to get a girlfriend. He truly is one of the kindness people I’ve ever had had in my life, and I will do my best to carry that kindness on to a family of my own some day. I’m going to miss his stories that he would always repeat (it seemed like they were recited each time), I’d going to miss when I would give you a hug you would grab my face give me one of your big kisses on my cheek, and I will miss our morning coffees at the dining table. He always had coffee prepared for me when I’d wake up and come downstairs. I know that you’ll be with me in every moment of my life, good and bad, and I will always love and miss you. Whenever we would say bye to each he would always say, it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later, because saying goodbye means we’ll never see each other again. So grandpa, I love you forever, and this isn’t goodbye, I will see you later.

I'm Andre the second middle grandson.  Every time we came to Vegas to visit the house,  my brother and I would walk and go Grandpa and he would always answer "heyyyyyyyyy, my grandsons." Every time we walked in the house his eyes never failed to light up and squint when he smiled and said “heyyyyyyyyyy” with the widest arms and the 2 kisses on the cheeks. He loves us grandkids, and he loved family. The holidays were the times that we all looked forward to, because we knew everyone in the family would be there, just like he wanted. That’s the reunion described as picture perfect in my eyes, and that’s something that will forever be carried on. In this family, and even in the family of my own I will one day have. The most important thing he’s shown is a loving family spending time with each other, loving each other, and being there for one another. To be a helping hand for your brothers and sisters. And to see each other as much as you can, because you never know when that one day will be when you can’t. I will carry him in my heart forever as love and inspiration. It eases me to know that he was able to have his family around him for one last time. You should’ve seen the look on his face when he opened his eyes. His eyes lit up and squinted when he smiled and said “heyyyyyyyyyyyy”. We will carry on your legacy. We love you!

Hello, my name is Matt and I’m Geoffrey’s first grand child of many. My grandpa was a very joyous, strong, and humble man who has built his own legacy and an amazing family.

When you look back at things, it’s always the simple things that stand out most. For me, my favorite memories were when he would drop me off to elementary school. He would always buy my favorite snacks and turn the radio to my favorite stations and cracking his infamous grandpa-style jokes along the way. It might not sound like a big deal but those were the best car rides I’ve had and now I can see why I love road trips with my family and friends.

The most simplest of memories can make the most significant impacts and I’ll cherish them forever.

Grandpa, you may be physically away from us but your spirit will always be close to our hearts.

07/01/2022 Our prayers are with Uncle Nonoy.  May he be free from pain and suffering and be filled with love and strength as he walk this journey to be with Our Lord.

07/01/2022 Uncle Nonoy meant so much to us!  He brought so much laughter and joy to us all.  I will miss him tremendously.  He's a link to my Dad.  He always told me stories about him and I'm grateful for that.  We're here for Auntie Leni and the family.  We love you all and we are praying with you.  

07/04/2022  I kept thinking of Uncle.  I was telling Paul stories of Uncle Nonoy, one favorite of mine is when he picked me up from the airport in LA and he told me stories of him and Daddy.  I was watching fireworks from our backyard and the whole time Uncle Nonoy's image was in my mind.  Canon family, we love you all and we are praying with you.

Uncle we love you so much and thank you for all the love and care you have given to me and the family.

To my dearest Leni, Michelle, Lani, Terry, Sonny, Dindo, all in laws, grandchildren and friends of family.  We are all here in God's grace to witness a mans life here on earth.  

Nonoy and Leni have been our dearest friends and family surrogate for than 50 years.  Their life together is a show of love, joy, sacrifice, loyalty and faithfulness as husband and wife.  Their life together as a family is a pillar of one Catholic faith, love, loyalty, sacrifice, faithfulness and forgiving.   

Nonoy was humble, loving, kind, east to deal with, caring and simple as a man.  My youngest daughter, Judy, who lost her father at 6 years old, cried so much learning of Nonoys death.  Why? Because she said Uncle Nonoy is so kind and loving and he loves me.  True love conquers all.  

Today we honor a man who brought heaven on earth through his life.  God giveth and God taketh away.  I would like to bring to you Jose Rizal's last farewell to Leonor song.  The words run like this - "The fatal hour at last has come - the hour dread by my sad fate; a bitter death, when I must part from thee my dear - to part from thee my dear.  Goodbye Leonor.  Goodbye Leonor.  Farewell to thee Leonor, my loving heart I give to thee Leonor my dear.  Farewell Leonor, farewell, farewell to thee Leonor: from here I now depart."

God giveth - God taketh away.  The Guerrero's love the Canon's.  Let's continue the legacy.

The day we last spoke with Nonoy is one that we will never forget and we will always treasure. HE TOLD US HE WAS NOT DYING YET BECAUSE NONE OF HIS DECEASED RELATIVES HAVE COME FOR HIM. NONOY TILL THE END WAS A FRIEND WITH A SENSE HUMOR. Don would sometimes even imitate the way Nonoy laughs with us and giggles.

In the more than 40 years of our friendship bound by repeated God parent relationships, wedding sponsors relationship and just being present for good times, Nonoy showed us how to love and how to be patient and forgiving.

In the last few hours before God called him to cross over to the eternal shores. NONOY MANIFESTED the love, tenderness and compassion of God who loved him till the end.

He repeatedly said he was ready for the journey and he was indeed prepared by his loved ones by enabling him to have the viaticum before he last breath.

Noy, we cannot imagine what coming together will be without you. You made things possible in many different ways; as a jack of all trades, ready to solve issues and concerns. You gave us, and I am sure everyone a sense of security just by being around, very often quietly listening or observing and yet being available when needed

You were a friend to many, and you showed how you cared for members of the family relatives or friends. Yours is a heart that generously responded to everyone.

On the token of our friendship. JOHNNY has gone before you. We are sure you will meet each other. Please PASS ON OUR LOVE TO Him. We wish we could be with your family and friends today. God MUST HAVE His reasons.

Your loving and caring wife, the children gifted to you coupled with their very own successful lives became the crowning glory of your earthly life!


Tito Nonoy was my father's close friend way back in the 70s in Bicol. When I was a child my parents would bring us to gatherings and parties with the Canon family. We used to go to the beach and enjoy barbecues together. I was happy to have met up again with Tito Nonoy and Tita Leni here in the US after so many years. He was still the same warm and friendly person that he was. Thank you for the fond memories Tito Nonoy. We will miss you.

All my memories of grandpa were all smiles and nothing but love and affection. Although he’s a tough man and easily gets bothered by things, when it comes to family he does nothing but show support and always ends the day with a laugh. I know we didn’t have much memories together but whenever I think about grandpa it just makes me smile and remember how blessed I am to have another family who loves me. Me & Chase really misses you and although you’re not here, the memories that you’ve left us makes us complete and serene. We Love You Grandpa!

Your presence, laughter, energy and smile will be sorely missed. You were such a warm and kind person and you always took the time to check-in and send a birthday greeting.  The times I was able to spend with you and your family will always be etched in my memory. Thank you for your light and joy - may we continue to carry this for you in this life. 

I am Tony Radovan.  I was 15 when my ROTC Class met our Senior Cadet Officer Geoffrey Canon, who took charge of our training.  In my formative years, as with my classmates, he ushered me into what I continue to pursue up to the present, which is, to do what is right.  It was only during our drills that I tried to emulate his persona, but somehow, in my subconscious, discipline and pursuit of excellence found their way in my professional life, decades thereafter.  When I came to know he lived just 7 miles from our house, even if we didn’t see each other as often as we should have, my warm feeling for Sir Nonoy, a man I hold in highest esteem and respect will remain even in his passing.  Parade Rest, Sir!
