

George Hideo Yamamoto, 85, a long-time resident of Henderson, Nevada passed away peacefully on January 6, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice, Harbor House. He was born on February 20, 1928 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Ichizo and Akie Yamamoto, being one of seven sons and a daughter. He was happily married 37 years to Miriam Lee who passed away seven years ago to the day. George was educated in Hawaii, but after serving in the army as a paratrooper, he continued his education to become an airplane mechanic. He did many different kinds of jobs then started his career with Western Airlines and later worked for Delta Airlines until he retired. His job brought him to reside in Henderson. He enjoyed his life with his hobbies of raising dogs, orchids and koi fish. He enjoyed hosting families and friends that came to Vegas to go out to lunch or dinner; he loved to eat. He looked forward to his gatherings with his Delta buddies, Hawaii coffee gang, and at one time belonged to many clubs with Miriam. Known for his friendliness, George is survived by granddaughter Teresa Ann Biehl; his care-giver, sister Betty Hashimoto; brother Samuel Yamamoto; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am, January 23, 2014 at Palm Eastern Mortuary. Inurnment will be held later at the Hawaiian Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
