Gertrude "Trudy", Nammee, Grandma Cunningham December 1, 1933 - August 14, 2025
Gertrude “Trudy” Cunningham passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She is now reunited with the love of her life, Bob, and will forever be remembered for her devotion to family, strength, grace, fiery spirit and her sense of humor.
Born on December 1, 1933, in Garden Valley, Idaho, Trudy was the middle child of Blanche and Robert Mills. From an early age, she exhibited leadership and determination, often taking charge as the head of the pack among her four siblings. Raised on a farm, she learned the value of hard work and resilience, mastering the tough chores of farm life. Trudy was educated in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated as valedictorian of her class, an achievement she was proud of throughout her life.
She continued her education at the University of Idaho in Moscow, where she forged lasting friendships that she cherished for many years. During her time in Las Vegas, she met Bob, her one and only true love. They married, and together, their greatest joy was raising their beautiful family.
Trudy dedicated over 32 years of her life to teaching in the Clark County School District. A passionate educator, she served as the head of the business department, where she taught typing and shorthand, shaping the lives of many students. Outside of the classroom, Trudy was an avid sportswoman and remained active throughout her life. She enjoyed skiing, tennis, and cycling—embarking on 16 bike tours around the world. Fitness was her lifeline, and she made it a priority, often walking nightly after school, donning her tennis shoes and hitting the track at Bob Baskin Park.
Upon retirement, Trudy’s entrepreneurial spirit shone when she and Bob, along with their son Mike started a successful fruit bar business. She delivered to Willow Beach, Callville Marina, Hoover Dam and many more destinations. Her business acumen, combined with Mike and Bob’s hard work, earned them the title of "Producer of the Year" from their peers. Trudy also continued her passion for tennis, serving as captain of her team for many years and forming enduring friendships through the sport. Trudy was a woman devoted to her faith. She volunteered at the church using her teaching skills, and counseled many answering the hotline for several agencies.
After relocating to Anthem, Trudy made daily walks around the 4-mile loop as part of her routine and worked with a trainer several times a week, maintaining her commitment to fitness and well-being.
Above all, Trudy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, second mom and friend. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support made her an inspiration to all who knew her. She made all those around her feel valued, heard, and understood.
Trudy is survived by her loving family: Michael Cunningham (Bernadette), Susan Berry (George), Taylor Berry, Nick Berry (Sam), Berta Butterworth (Robin), Andrea Trofimuk (Todd), Chris Cunningham (Ariella)
