Gilbert Strange, 88, of Henderson, NV, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 due to complications following hip replacement surgery. He was born on November 4, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to Irvin and Lillian Skurkowich. Gilbert enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 17, during World War II, and was a decorated and wounded proud patriot who fought at the Battle of the Bulge to free the trapped soldiers. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rosalinda; previous wife, Elaine; five children, Roxanne, James, Cecelia, Isaac and Lillian; two brothers, Jack and Stanley; sister, Sara; and five grandchildren, Sydney, Mackenzie, Michaela, Zachary and Rudolfo. Gilbert spent most of his life learning and mastering fields that ranged from machinery and equipment appraisals to earning a self-taught law degree. In later years, he was known as a shrewd and prescient real estate investor. He was always top of his field regardless of his occupation. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2:00pm at King David Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Cemetery. King David Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.
