

Henry “The Hammer” “Hank” Goldberg, of Las Vegas, a horse racing analyst and NFL football reporter and prognosticator, died after a battle with chronic kidney disease. He died on Monday, July 4, 2022, his birthday, in his in Las Vegas home, he was 82. Hank was born on July 4, 1940 in Newark, NJ to Sadie (nee Abben) and Hy Goldberg and was a Southern Nevada resident since 2018. Hank attended Duke University and graduated from NYU. He began his career as an advertising executive in Manhattan while serving in the United States Army Reserves. He soon moved to Miami to sell advertising until 1974. He then became “The Greek’s Ghost”, writing Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder’s column for over 200 newspapers and assisted Snyder in preparing material for the “The NFL Today” TV segment. In 1978, he began his broadcast career as the talk show host for WIOD Radio Miami and the radio color commentator for the Miami Dolphins. From 1993-2022, he worked for ESPN and ESPN2 as a football reporter/analyst, radio host, and horse racing reporter/analyst for Sportscenter and other selected racing events. His illustrious career included ABC and ESPN‘s horse racing coverage of The Triple Crown and The Breeder’s Cup. He often appeared on ESPN’s Daily Wager sports betting show, and worked for CBS HQ and Sportsline.com. Hank is survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Goldberg. Services will be private.
