

Howard Jerry Lewis, affectionately known as Jerry, was born on January 6, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to Howard Lewis and Margie Jones. He was the youngest of nine siblings. At an early age his family moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he was educated in Forrest County Public Schools. Jerry completed his welding training at Pearl River Junior College. He then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, working as a pipe and sheet metal welder at Avondale Shipyard. He later became self employed as a taxicab driver. He also drove the bus for The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority.
In 1988, Jerry moved his family to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked for Republic Services and was a proud member of Local Union 631 until his retirement. Jerry accepted Christ at an early age and after relocating to Las Vegas he joined The Church of Lord Jesus, rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized by Elder Victorian. He joined the Bread of Life ministries in 1997, serving under Pastors Simmie and Bessie Richards. After retirement he relocated to Hattiesburg to live and returned to Las Vegas a few years ago. Jerry was a loving caring individual who extended his home and raised a nephew, Ethan Williams and a grandson, Jerome Mcfadden. He looked forward to family gatherings and cooking. Baking was his expertise. Jerry made the best sweet potato pies and peach cobblers on this side of the Mississippi. He also enjoyed classic TV shows like The Three stooges, Looney Tunes, and Old Westerns.
Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memories; daughters Randell Ricks of New Orleans, LA, and Keonna J. Lewis of Las Vegas, NV. (13) grandchildren, (16) great-grandchildren, (1) brother, Robert Hodge (Corea, Chicago, Illinois. (3) sisters, Carolyn Hodge and Gwendolyn Brisco of Los Angeles, CA, and Sherri Lewis of San Diego, CA, and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, (2) sons, Jessie Mcfadden and Corey Lewis, daughter, Courtney Lewis, (2) sisters, Anna Lee Hodge and Dawn Stallings, (2) brothers Raymond Brisco and Leroy Hodge, maternal grandparents, Annie and Allen Jones, paternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Sam Lewis.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bread of Life Ministries of His Glory, 2721 Coran Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89106, US, on March 14, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
