

Ida Mae Spann Cooper was born on June 22, 1936 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to the late Isaac and Asylee Spann. She was born the sixth child of fourteen, nine brothers and four sisters. Affectionately known to her family as Sally, she enjoyed sewing, singing, cooking, and traveling.
She was raised in Sunflower County, Mississippi, where she received her education. She accepted Christ at an early age and continued to walk with God until her passing on February 5, 2014 when God called her home.
Mother Cooper was truly a light, inspiration, mother and confidant to all who loved her. She will be remembered most for her beautiful smile and voice that brought warmth and joy to all. Her love for her family was impeccable. Mother Cooper remained faithful to God throughout her sickness.
Mother Cooper was preceded in death by her husband James Cooper and nine siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Ben (Gwendolyn) Spann, Edward (Mary) Cooper, Mary L. Cooper, Charlotte (Tyrone) Williams, Linda Cooper, and Willie Washington; brothers Richard (Susan) Spann and Ervin Spann; sisters Ethel Moses and Virgie Stuckey; twenty grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
