

Irwin R. Legon, 92, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on April 9th, 2026. Born on August 27th, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, he moved to Yonkers, NY, in 1973, and then on to Sleepy Hollow, NY in 1975. He retired in 2001 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, the same year.
Irwin graduated Midwood High School in Brooklyn in 1951. He received his Bachelor Degree in Political Science from Brooklyn College in 1955, and a Master of Science in Retailing from New York University in 1956. Immediately after graduate school he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving his country from 1956 to 1960, two years active duty and two years in the reserves.
Irwin made a career in the wholesale apparel business, having an office in the Empire State Building for most of that time. He lived the New York City bachelor life in the 1960's, working during the week and spending weekends during the summer at Fire Island (NY). It was there, in 1969, he met Joan Helene Becker from Hyde Park, NY. They got married on April 12, 1970 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Their son Richard was born in 1973, and they built a life together in Sleepy Hollow for over 25 years. Retirement beckoned, and they have lived the Las Vegas life since 2001.
Irwin is survived by his wife Joan and his son Richard, both of Las Vegas. He is predeceased by his Parents, Sidney and Doris Legon of Brooklyn, NY, and his Brother, Harvey Legon of New York and New Jersey.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 14th, at 9:20 am in the chapel at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City, NV, followed by a short graveside ceremony. After the service there will be a reception for family and friends at the Boulder City Masonic Temple in Boulder City, NV.
