JoAnn was born on April 5, 1933, in Gillett, Wisconsin, to parents Louise Krauger Gutt and Ernst Paul Gutt.
She attended Loma Linda University followed by an internship at Glendale Hospital in 1957 with a BA degree in nursing. Following her graduation, JoAnn embarked on both her professional journey and family life, marrying Leland Willson and pursuing her nursing career in California. She dedicated 46 years to her profession, serving in California, Colorado, and Nevada.
JoAnn was a loving mother and wife. She married Harold in 1974, and together they shared many years exploring the United States by RV, cruising the Caribbean, Alaska, Mediterranean Sea, and traveling overseas to Europe. Sharing those experiences created cherished memories and contributed to a full and loving life.
JoAnn enjoyed several hobbies, from riding horses at Lake Tahoe with her granddaughters to cross-country skiing and riding quads exploring the terrain of the northwest. Her creative pursuits included quilting, needlepoint, macrame, rock polishing, and creating stained glass keepsakes. JoAnn will be remembered for her kindness, adventurous spirit, and the warmth she brought to everyone she met.
A celebration of life is forthcoming and will be scheduled for the spring of 2026. All are welcome to attend and celebrate JoAnn's life. The family would like to thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
