John R. DeNovellis passed in the early hours on February 21 at the age of 71 in Henderson, Nevada. Mr. DeNovellis was born on June 8, 1946 in Hartford, Connecticut to Vincenzo and Maria (Sanelli) DeNovellis. He graduated from Buckley High School and promptly volunteered to serve his country as a Marine in Vietnam. After recovering from the wounds that earned him a Purple Heart, Mr. DeNovellis returned to his home town to operate his family’s business, Franklin Giant Grinder, until his relocation to Henderson in 1996. In the spirit of family business, he worked closely with his son-in-law at First Source Financial until his retirement in 2007. John was the picture of a stalwart patriarch: loving husband, steady father, adoring grandfather. In all things, he carried and imparted his pride in having served his country, a quiet but powerful presence, and deep affection for the ones he loved. Mr. DeNovellis was predeceased by his brother, Frank DeNovellis, and his beautiful granddaughter, Bella Giuliano, who lost her short but fierce battle with cancer two short months ago. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Pauline (Boardman), with whom he fell in love at first sight; his daughter Terri Giuliano (Joe); son John Paul (Christina Lund); brothers Joseph (Ellen), and Pat; grandchildren Joseph Giuliano, Gavin DeNovellis, and Kyler Lund; and a large and loving extended family. At his explicit request, Mr. DeNovellis will be laid to rest with a Veteran’s Day gift bestowed upon him by his beloved Bella. His life will be honored on Saturday, March 3rd at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with service immediately to follow.
