

In loving memory of John Rufus Jacobs, 77, a Las Vegas resident for the past 35 years, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013. John was born March 14, 1936 in Meridian, Mississippi to Jessie Roy Jacobs and Cora Del Bolton. They had six children, Roy Jacobs, John Jacobs, Jessie Jacobs, Ronnie Hatcher, Barbra Thomas, and Vickie Steward. John was married to his sweetheart, Janell Jacobs, for 58 wonderful years.
John played the guitar, wrote music, and would sing all his favorite songs to you. He loved to fish and he always had a fish story to tell. He was known to people in Las Vegas as "Cowboy Johnny" because of his hats and boots. He was always clowning around and never could be serious about anything. He was a 32 Degree Master Mason and Shriner, and always was helping people who needed it till the day he passed.
John is survived by the love of his life, Janell; four beautiful children, Brenda Upright, Eddie Jacobs, John Jacobs Jr. and Rick Jacobs; seven grandchildren, Gerald, Latisha, Nicole, Devan, Lauren, Matthew and Kyle; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 18, with funeral services following, both at King David Chapel, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123.
