He was born on August 9, 1944 in Evanston, Illinois. Leon and Beatrice Lacroix adopted him shortly after his birth. He had one sibling, June Carroll. John found his soul mate and partner for life at the age of 17, when he met Hazel in Honolulu, Hawaii while being stationed there in the Navy. It was “Love at First Sight”.
They both left Hawaii in August of 1964 to move to San Diego, California, where John remained in the Navy just one more year. They had their one and only child, Terri, in December of 1964. After San Diego, they moved to Yucca Valley, where he worked for General Telephone Company for six years. In 1971, they moved to Oxnard, California where they resided for three years. While in Oxnard, John was the manager for Earl Scheibe, which was a company where they painted cars. He also got into the Plumbing business off and on for three years with his good friend Calvin. They eventually landed in South Lake Tahoe, California, where the family lived for 13 years. He ran the warehouse at Sahara Tahoe and Caesar’s, until he decided to start his own Chimney Sweep business, which he really enjoyed. He loved owning his own business, especially because that gave him plenty of time to fish whenever he wanted. Tahoe was his most favorite place on the planet and where he called "Home". They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987, where he worked for America West Airlines, as a ramper. He absolutely loved that job! He worked in the closet business for just a bit, until retiring in 2009.
John loved to fish whenever he could. All the family vacations consisted of somewhere outdoors, and where the fish were always jumping. Lee Vining, June Lake and Mammoth were some of the favorite spots.
He loved good food, movies, traveling, having friends over for a good ole poker game and BBQ, and just socializing with family and friends. He was always so happy and enjoyed life. He had a smile that could light up a room and warm your heart.
John is survived by his wife Hazel; his daughter Terri; his beautiful grandchildren Wesley Denzler and Peyton (Pipsqueak) Peterson; his great-grandchild Braun Denzler; and his son-in-law Shane Peterson.
