I first met Dr. Ravin in May of 1987 as a VERY immature 10 year old. I stopped seeing him professionally at age 13. But despite that I was not seeing him as a patient anymore, he still wanted to remain friends with me.

And that is EXACTLY what he was to me, and many other people as well: a true friend. Over 30 years after I stopped seeing him, I continued to keep contact with him to the point of now, as a full grown adult. I would always look forward to our conversations, where Dr. Ravin would always offer me so many words of encouragement of how far I have come from the time I was seeing him as an extremely arrogant child back then, to the far more reasonable adult that I am now. At the end of our conversations, he would ALWAYS remind me to keep in touch, and to remember to give him another call in a couple of weeks, which I made a point to do.

I'm sure not only did he touch my life so much, but so many others as well, and the fact that he made such a beautiful family, with a marriage of 58 years, and three extremely successful and well-raised children, just shows he was truly one of a kind. Reading the comments on this page, other people seem to think the same. Although Dr. Ravin may be gone, his legacy of generosity I'm sure will certainly live on through the beautiful family he created through his children and grandchildren bearing his name.

They say that "Our lives become meaningful by meaningful to others." And Dr. Ravin, I would like you to know that our friendship over three decades meant more to me than you can imagine. I always cherished talking to you, and maintaining a friendship with you all these years, and will continue to cherish it. I can't thank you enough for all your kindness, encouragement and heart you have extended to me for the past 30 plus years. I'm hoping that I can maybe see you again, sometime, somewhere on the other side.

Rest in peace to a truly wonderful human being.

With Appreciation and Sympathy,

J.D. Daruvalla

Thanks to the Ravin Family for inviting me to their loved ones Funeral Service. It was a special honor for me and I feel very close to the family. I still get Sean and Seth' names mixed up, do for give me.
The Service was warm and heart felt. John will be missed for his long conversation in his yard or at the mail box. I am Rita and the late John Ravin neighbor and friend.
John and I had these chance meetings at Costco, Sam's Club, Sam's Club Gas Station, and Albertsons Grocery Store many times. I told John we would have to stop meeting like that, I would have to tell Rita. I will also miss his helpfulness regarding information about health that I would inquire about. God Bless and Comfort you all. With Love Dollie .

My heart is with all of the surviving members of the Ravin family as we celebrate the life of this truly unique man.

I am John's daughter-in-law. I have known John since I began dating his son, Sean, in 2002. Sean and I married in 2008 and we now have two children together - daughter Natalie (age 9) and son Joshua (age 2).

John welcomed me into the Ravin family with open arms from the very first day I met him. I recall many conversations with John over our shared passion for psychology (I am a psychologist, John was a psychiatrist) and our mutual love of animals.

Most of all, I am eternally grateful to John for raising such an extraordinary son, who is a model of love, compassion, kindness, and generosity. I am blessed beyond words to have had the good fortune of meeting and marrying Sean Ravin. Countless people have benefitted from the Ravin legacy of generosity, including myself, our two children, and the many wonderful individuals who have worked for our family over the years. Thank you, John, for raising your precious son with these values.

I have only met Mr. Ravin a couple of times but I have known his son Seth for 25 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Ravin raised an awesome son which is a true reflection on their character, he was obviously a good man and father which he passed on to his children.
