

He was born in 1966 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip to Mary and Anthony Gengo. Joe spent the majority of his childhood surrounded by family in East Islip. Joe attended grammar school at St. Mary's followed by East Islip High School, where he was voted “Most School Spirit”, before studying architectural technology at New York Institute of Technology. After graduating with his bachelors, his love for architecture took him into construction. It was with this passion that he found his way to 7-Eleven where he worked for the last 23 years.
Joe met Paula, his wife, on Long Island in 1992. After getting married in 1995, they immediately moved to Las Vegas, where they raised their two children, Steven and Raina. Despite leaving New York his focus on family and friends had him returning every year. Joe’s passion for life, love of family and friends had him not only coaching both his children in sports but being their biggest cheerleader in life.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Anthony Gengo, and his brother Michael Gengo. He is survived by his wife, Paula, children Steven and Raina, sister AnneMarie (Chris) Helmke and nephews Chris Helmke Jr, (Kristin, and sons Chase and Cooper) Anthony Helmke, Jonathan Helmke and mother-in-law Marilyn Moroknek.
Funeral services to be held November 23, 2024, at Palm Mortuary 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123. Visitation will be from 11-1145 am, service to begin at 12 noon with burial immediately following.
