Joseph Chhey Tan

Following a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer, Joseph Chhey Tan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family at 6:23 am.

Joseph was born on July 3, 1971, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. His family fled their country in 1979 and settled in the United States in 1981 due to a tumultuous civil war in Cambodia. Joseph lived in Las Vegas, NV for most of his life until his death. He attended Valley High School from 1987 to 1990. In November 1995, he met the love of his life and soulmate, Holly, at Texas Station where they both worked.

Joseph and Holly were married on October 12, 1996 and in 1998 adopted three beautiful daughters – Sophea, Makara, and Bopha. A few years later, they were blessed with two more daughters, Eileena and Annie, in 1999 and 2001, respectively.

Joseph dedicated nearly 30 years of his career in the hospitality industry, working at Texas Station, Bellagio and Wynn. He was highly regarded by his friends, colleagues, and guests for his hard work, kindness, humility, and dedication.

Joseph was an avid golfer, who enjoyed meditating, reading, staying active, and spending time with his dogs. Above all, he cherished his time with family, never missing any milestones or events in his daughters' lives. He will be remembered for his love, compassion, strength, resilience, and his fun-loving, humorous nature.

He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 28 years, Holly; children: Sophea, Makara (Eangchhoung), Bopha, Eileena (Jovany), and Annie (Duke); grandchildren: Shawn, James, Kimhong, Aston, Sivchiing, and Vatey; brothers: Leng (Cheng), Ken (Eloung), Chhoun (Monique), sisters: Giet (Kim), Rosanna, Julia; two dogs: Robin and Romie; as well as numbers of relatives, friends, and pets.

A visitation for Joseph will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Eastern, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations are welcome.
