Joyce Amelia Nelson

Joyce Nelson died in her sleep at home in Henderson, Nevada on April 2, 2014. April Fool’s Day was her favorite day (funny it was her last day!). The Lord separated her from her pain of many years that night. Joyce was born on June 6, 1951 in Oakland, California. She, with her family of two brothers and three sisters, moved to Sunnyvale, California when Joyce was in the 7th grade. Joyce graduated from Sunnyvale High School in June 1970. We met three days before her graduation ceremony at a party and fell in love instantly! Joyce and I, Spencer Nelson, were married May 8, 1971 in Sunnyvale. Joyce went on from high school to graduate from the Vidal Sassoon Beauty School and worked as a beautician until she became pregnant with our daughter Kristi in 1976. Not long after in February 1979 God gave us our son Erik. All Joyce wanted to do was be a mom! She loved to give to anyone, in any need. Joyce would seek out and speak with anyone in every situation in our life!

Joyce suffered from a work-related injury in 1995 which necessitated back surgery (fusion) which eventually led to the many years of pain which the Lord separated her from on April 2, 2014. Joyce is survived by her husband Spencer; daughter Kristi; son Erik; mother May; sisters Debbie, Margie, and Kathleen; and brothers Charlie and Andy.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 1:30-2:00pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00. All services will be held at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89123.
