June was born on June 27, 1951 in Tarlac City, Philippines to Paterno Catacutan Sr. and Tarcila Espinosa. She was the third of six children, Reynaldo Sr., Vivian, Malou, Paterno Jr., and Emmanuel. She graduated as high school valedictorian from the College of the Holy Spirit and received her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology. In college, she met her soulmate and partner for life Michael Rodriguez from Alaminos, Pangasinan. They were married in 1977. At the time of her death, they had just celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.
June started her career as a research scientist at the Office of the President, Project Santa Barbara at Sangley Point, Cavite City, Philippines. She then moved up to management in Petron and PNOC. After 22 years with the company, she pursued her passion in floral design and opened her own flower shop called Flower Magic by Jhaelmark. In 2003, she migrated to the US with the family and worked as a retail manager at Dillard’s.
As a woman of unwavering faith, June devoted her life in service to the Lord. She was actively involved in the Catholic Church at Our Lady of Unity Parish, the Diocese of Paranaque, Philippines, and St. Thomas More Parish in Henderson, Nevada. She participated in family life ministry at various prayer communities such as Servants of the Holy Spirit, Spirit of Peace and Unity, and The Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals.
June lived an accomplished life with numerous accolades and achievements, but her greatest joy stemmed from serving the Lord, sharing her life with others, and nurturing her family.
June will be remembered for her humility, selflessness, and compassion for others. She loved gathering people together and welcoming them into her home. She had a gentle, soft-spoken voice that was calming and a wonderful smile that could light up a room. As a wife and mother, she was the foundation of our family, filling it with warmth and kindness. Through difficult times, she was always there to offer her support and encouragement.
June is survived by her husband Michael; her six daughters: Cherise, Kathleen, Leah, Mikki, Hannah, and Princess; and her eight grandchildren: Godric, Dylan, Aiden, Larabelle, Dristan, Mikayla, Rhace, and Mia.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms.
Family, friends, and others whose lives have been touched by June are invited to a Celebration of Life in her honor. It will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
