Juvencio Banda (JB) Castro
January 26th, 1932 – August 21st, 2025
Juvencio Banda Castro, affectionately known as “JB” to his co-workers, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 21st, 2025, at the age of 93.
Juvencio was born in Cerritos (Tepozan), San Louis Potosi, Mexico to Taurina Perales Banda and Francisco Estrada Castro on January 26th, 1932. He came to the United States at the young age of 14 in search of new opportunities. He worked on a boat shoveling out grain as far south as Galveston, Texas, and worked the land as far north as Ogden, Utah, driving tractors and harvesting fruits and produce for two dollars a day. These early years of hard labor instilled in him the strength and determination that would define his life. He worked for the Union Pacific as a laborer, where he eventually retired after 32 years. He was admired for his tireless work ethic-enduring all kinds of extreme weather and often outworking men half his age. His resilience, humility, and quiet strength earned the respect of all who knew him.
On February 7, 1954, he married the love of his life, Socorro Rodriguez Silva, and together they shared 71 years of devotion.
Juvencio is preceded in death by his parents, six siblings (Silverio, Isabel, Jesus, Apolonio, Francisco and Trinidad) and his first daughter, Virginia. Today, Juvencio has joined them in heaven, where they are reunited once more.
Juvencio is survived by his wife, Socorro, four siblings (Fabian, Zenaida, Pedro and Rogelio), six children (Salvador, Laura, Juvencio, Fernando, Rosa and Susana), 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and one great-great grand daughter.
